WELCOME
Welcome to The Afterlife Convention! We are excited to have you as part of our volunteer team. Your contribution is vital to the success of this unique event, which brings together experts, enthusiasts, and the curious to explore life after death, spirituality, and the mysteries of the afterlife.
VOLUNTEER INFORMATION
As a volunteer, you are an essential part of the team. Your role is to assist in the smooth running of the convention while also ensuring that attendees have a meaningful experience. This handbook will guide you through your responsibilities and help you understand what is expected.
VOLUNTEER POSITIONS
Here’s a breakdown of volunteer roles and the number of volunteers required for each position:
Stage Crew
Assist with stage management, AV equipment, speaker needs and crowd control.
Volunteers Needed: 4 per stage, per shift – we have 3 stages.
Workshop Assistants
Support workshop facilitators with setup, materials distribution, and participant flow.
Volunteers Needed: 3 per shift
Green Room Attendants
Ensure comfort and timeliness of speakers and exhibitors.
Volunteers Needed: 1 per shift
Exhibition Stall Assistants
Assist exhibitors with general support, toilet breaks, and WHS
Volunteers Needed: 2 per shift
Registration & Information Desk
Welcome attendees, manage registrations, and provide event materials.
Volunteers Needed: 4 per shift
Crowd Control & Directional Staff
Assist attendees with navigation and ensure safety.
Volunteers Needed: 3 per shift
Runners
Handle ad hoc tasks and provide general assistance.
Volunteers Needed: 3 per shift
VOLUNTEER BENEFITS

- Access to all sessions during your non-volunteer hours.
- Certificate of participation upon request.
EXPECTATIONS AND GUIDELINES
Professionalism: Treat all attendees, speakers, and fellow volunteers with respect.
Punctuality: Arrive on time for your scheduled shifts.
Communication: Report any issues immediately to your team leader or supervisor.
Teamwork: Work collaboratively with other volunteers to ensure smooth event operations.
ATTENDANCE POLICY
Volunteers are expected to attend all assigned shifts. If you are unable to attend a shift, please notify your team leader as soon as possible. Repeated absences may result in the forfeiture of volunteer benefits.
ATTIRE
Volunteers should wear the official convention attire provided during onboarding, along with comfortable shoes and casual pants. Please ensure you look neat and presentable at all times.
ONBOARDING
All volunteers will undergo a mandatory onboarding session where they will be briefed on their roles, the event schedule, and expectations.
MANDATORY INDUCTION
Attendance at the induction is compulsory for all volunteers. It will cover safety procedures, emergency contacts, and your responsibilities during the event.
Induction certificate is to be presented on arrival to the venue.
REPORTING
You will report to your designated team leader for each shift. Any changes in shifts or additional responsibilities will be communicated by the team leader.
EVENT SCHEDULE PROCEDURES
Each shift will be clearly outlined in the event schedule, which will be shared during the onboarding session. Be sure to familiarize yourself with the schedule and your assigned locations.
VENUE INFORMATION
The convention will take place at the Horden Pavillion, located at 1 Driver Ave, Moore Park NSW 202. Volunteers should arrive 30 minutes prior to the start of their shift.
PARKING INFORMATION
Limited parking will be available for volunteers. Details on parking passes and designated areas will be provided during onboarding.
